Q : Is it true you once praised the work of rapper Eminem?
A : I never listened to one of his performances, but I knew he was very famous and I knew the kind of propulsive, rhyme-driven, verbally athletic genre that rap was. At a conference for teachers, I was asked a question about the younger generation’s interest in poetry. My answer was that some popular genres had a metrical and rhyming energy and that this guy Eminem seemed to have sent a charge around the world. End of story, I thought. How wrong can you be? The Daily Telegraph reported something on the lines of “Nobel Laureate Commends Rapper Who Advocates Rape, Murder, etc.”

Tip drill controversy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tip_Drill_(song)
A very interesting piece – a metal song from a rather specific sub-genre that somehow managed to send this album to number 10 on the US Billboard 200 charts.
Snarky goodness in a meta-pop song along with great craftsmanship in pop production
